Sassi Cucina e Bar - Port Douglas

Excellent Italian cuisine, not to believe in Australia. Very nice staff.

This was our first time in Port Douglas and this restaurant was recommended by the hotel we are staying. The food and service was amazing. We both had the Pesce del Giorno (fish of the day). It was the barramundi which was made to perfection. It was a very generous portion that was more than enough. Our server Sig was great.

Wonderful. Stopped in for lunch on a hot Friday afternoon. It was pretty empty. The French waiter (as others have described I found to be perfectly pleasant and welcoming and friendly. Not sure what the others are talking about (perhaps he 's crabby if it 's busier? . Anyways the food was fantastic. Had the tuna marinated in lime juice (amazing . Sassi calamari (amazing . Pasta special and shrimp salad (great . Service was great. You should definitely eat here without hesitation. Update: we went back a second time for lunch. The French waiter is not French. He 's Italian and a very nice guy. Had oysters (yum , caprese (beyond yum and penne w salmon and toasted capers w/ creme sauce (wow . Also had the Divine Intervention cocktail (yum . Great restaurant. You should eat here!!

Food was good, but the French waiter did not make me feel welcome. Giving the pricing of the restaurant it should have been better.

Stopped by for lunch on a lazy Easter Saturday afternoon and must admit the empty tables (nearly all of them) had us worried. But fear not, the food was amazing, the service was friendly and efficient...and did I mention the food?? I had the mussels and they were sublime. The soup was salty, garlicky and buttery all at the same time and I could have just had the soup and been just as happy (well almost). Look out for the lunch specials, my wife had the salmon spaghetti special that came with a free glass of wine for $24...and it was equally as good. It was no wonder the place was full when we drove past at dinner time. Highly recommend.
