Virgile - Raleigh

Had a wonderful experience in bar virgile recently. visited durham on a work trip. we ventured into this situation not to know what to expect and were at the beginning of their food service. we had been able to drink all night and several appetizers (the fried oysters were so good). our service was beautiful and the music and atmosphere were fantastic. will do more than likely do more work in durham and this will have to stop one during each visit.

Absolutely delicious restaurant with a great, intimate atmosphere. bar virgile is a raised bar and restaurant perfect for a beautiful occasion. the cocktails were all lovely (I would recommend the seasonal tante ginny if it is available) and eating was amazing. the plates are perfect for sharing and were surprisingly generous with many of the portions. everything we had was cooked to perfection. the location is quite small and fills quickly, so they do not take reservations. they will be a little close to others, but this is still worth coming to every evening.

The atmosphere at this restaurant is absolutely fantastic. It may be a bit small, so I recommend going early. The food was delicious and the bartender pours generously. The location is also great, as it is conveniently located next to a parking garage, making it easy to access from within the city. I will definitely be returning for more!

The cocktails delighted my wife and I was impressed by the teamwork of the two chefs. They cooked, plated, and washed dishes like a well-oiled machine, working hard as a duo. They were hustling as if they were in New York City. Those guys deserve a raise!

Rating should be in between 4 and 5 stars. The servers were GREAT, even in costumes for Halloween which made it fun and festive. I loved the chai hour cocktail, by far my favorite and should mention I do not usually drink vodka. This is an excellent cocktail. I also tried the harvest sour but the pumpkin tasted raw, would probably be soooo much better if served warm or with less puree. I also ordered their mussels with fries. Overall a good dish, gotta love well cooked shoestring fries.
