This restaurant has always been my favorite French restaurant in Bangkok. It is a classical fine dining place with a not too formal atmosphere, which I quite prefer. However, I have not been here for a while. Today, I happened to be near the place during lunch, so I decided to go there for their lunch set menu, which is a real bargain. The breads which they offer quite a variety is always good here. My first course today was cold potatoes and leek cream soup with smoked trout and herring cavier which was very light and complex. The main for me today was grilled beef steak with French fries and salads. The sauce tasted good, but the steak was overdone. I ordered medium rare and got a well done steak. I opted for cheese plate rather than dessert, which was good. They were quite generous with the cheese. The service was very cortious, polite and friendly but not too much. The chef owner was there to chat with customers as usual. Overall, I still like this place a lot and will definitely go back, although it will not get 5 stars this time because of the steak.
We had the lunch set menu which was incredibly cheap for the good quality. Well cooked food and good flavour and good service. Would have given 5 stars but we were sat upstairs and saw a huge cockroach on the wall which then fell/jumped to the ground floor. It ruined the experience a little bit but it's not fully within their control so still 3 stars because the food was so delicious.
It s our first get together in a long time. We chose good old trusted Philippe. The ambiance and the servers were nice. Unfortunately the food was not good. An order of Escargot with 5 pieces one came with nothing in it. Rack of lambs had strong smell, salty, and the burnt garlic crusted was salty and bitter. Duck confit was alright, fish dishes were not that impressive. Everything was so salty. At this price point we have many other better choices. Very disappointed.
This restaurant maintains a high standard of food quality. The chef has created well-balanced dishes that are flavorful, fresh, savory, and aromatic. They consistently use high-quality ingredients in their meals.
