Avaliação da contribuiçãoLooking for a new French restaurant because our favorite French restaurant La Panatiere in Rye unfortunately went out of business. Upon arrival, we were promptly seated by the hostess. The restaurant is nicely decorated and at 5:30pm on a Saturday night, it is not quite busy yet. Warm bread was served and the cranberry one was good. We were given one piece and when we asked for another piece it never arrived. We even asked couple of times but we didn't get it anyway it's okay because we only reward excellent service. Now onto the food, French onion soup was good but lacking in cheese, grilled octopus was excellent, Soft shell crab was amazing as well as the short ribs. I love soufflé but they don't have it iso I didn't order any for dessert. Definitely we will come back if we are in the area.
I just love this restaurant absolutely fabulous. First of all atmosphere was wonderful there was a gentleman playing Acoustic guitar with medleys of assorted music which was just wonderful to hear and have your meal with. The service was wonderful everybody was so polite and accommodating especially to people who have special diet needs such as gluten free etc. absolutely amazing. Everyone at the table stated The food was delicious fresh and the portions were perfect not too big not too small. Also everybody enjoy their cocktails unfortunately the foor photos below only represent a small portion of my parties meals. Therefore I will basically review my meal I had a trout which was accompanied with rice and spinach oh my goodness it was so amazing. The trout was juicy with a lovely crisp to it. There were almonds on top of the fish which was a perfect match absolutely delicious. The spinach was season well extremely fresh along with some wild rice which is made with perfection of added seasoning. The oysters were delish so yummy melting in your mouth everybody at the table said bravo for these beautiful babies. My cappuccino was fantastic, nice and bold coffee.... as you all know I dig my coffee and I just Loved the glass it was served in so sweet and cute. Please go to this place it's absolutely incredible.
My husband and I had a mixed experience at Bernard's. Despite our excitement to try this restaurant, we were met with chaos upon our arrival due to the rain. The previous couple celebrating an anniversary was seated at the bar as they couldn't accommodate them indoors. We were placed in a room called 'the monkey room' with peeling paint on the walls. Our server seemed disinterested, and our cocktails were delivered spilled on the tray. Ordering food was also a hassle, with the server unwilling to accommodate a request to remove shrimp from a dish. However, the vegetarian ravioli and filet Mignon we ordered were excellent. After our meals were served, the server's attitude improved, and we enjoyed our conversation with her. The lime cheesecake for dessert was delightful. Despite the great food, the subpar service leaves room for improvement. Bernard's, you have some work to do before I consider returning.
I am thrilled that Bernard's has not only survived quarantine, but they are honestly better than ever. I felt compelled to update my review from a few years ago because they are still excelling. It is still the best meal I have ever had. You can save on airfare to Europe and instead visit Bernard's. I was delighted to dine in or get takeout from them this winter, and now their outdoor seating area is beautiful. It is a fun spot for a girls' night out and romantic for a date night. I have dined both indoors and outdoors recently. The menu always features fresh dishes - I tried the halibut with risotto and it was perfect. And the seasonal cocktails? Absolutely delicious! The pomegranate margarita I had to start was the perfect way to kick off summer.
We enjoyed our dinner at Bernard's. Had a drink upstairs at the bar first at Sarah's. The food was excellent and the place was relaxing and upscale. Loved the piano player! Would definitely come back.
