Portillo's - Rockford

Food was excellent three of us had bacon cheeseburger the wife had the italian beef sausage combo was very good also slice of chocolate cake excrllent

I had never heard of this place until I was in Illinois visiting my in-laws, but I was very impressed. I had only had a Chicago style hot dog at a Cub game many years previously to this trip. My meal at Portillo's was much better than the Chicago hot dog that I remembered from the past. This restaurant also has a neat history with several past celebrity visitors. This is documented on the walls of the restaurant by signed photos and other memorabilia. Be sire to give this place a try if you are visiting or driving through the area!

We always make a point of stopping at Portillo's when we are in Rockford. Love the Italian Beef with sweet peppers and grilled onions. The place is always busy but they manage the crowd very well. Hopefully a Portillo's will open somewhere closer to where we live so we can enjoy it more often!

It does take some time to actually get your food, but it is worth the wait, and the deserts are AMAZING!!!

I was told that if I ever came to the Chicago area I HAD to try Portillo's, I'm SO GLAD I did because it was one of the best places from our visit. I had the Italian beefs and sausage sandwich (with cheese and both kinds of peppers) along with a jumbo dog (grilled onions no tomato), fries and a drink. I honestly thought I'd just be getting another all beef Kirkland hot dog with some stuff on top, but that's not what I got AT ALL. I don't know what they do but that hot dog was perfect! I've had Italian beefs but not like this, It was LOADED with peppers and cheese and the sausage was perfectly cooked. I've had places really undercook their sausage and that ruins it, but NOT HERE! When I'm back in the area, I'm definitely going back here!
