In the search for a beautiful cafe, we discovered the historic farmhouse coffee WINDBEUTELGRÄFIN in 1994 in the former Mühlbaudernhof. Ms. Richardis von Somnitz fled to Ruhpolding in 1949 with her small children from East Prussia and built up a new existence here. One day a guest came, whose food was filled with wind bags and showed her how to prepare them. In the later solo attempt she brought too much dough to the baking sheets. And so the first RIESENWINDBEUTEL was created and the boss became the WINDBEUTELGRÄFIN . In 2014, Helmut Stemmer took over the restaurant with his family. Every wind bag is handmade. The No. 500,000 was served there on 25. January 1978 the chamber singer Rudolf Schock. The No. 2.000.000 consumed television star Professor Klausjürgen Wussow on 24. July 2003 and 6 In January 2011, the ice-prinzessin Katharina Witt was able to taste the No. 2,410,000. Even the giant windbags have been well guarded, but we no longer know what number it was then!!!
Even if it is a tourist castle, really recommended. The staff has everything super under control. The wind bags are the real eye-catcher and really huge. The prices are absolutely justified and not overpriced. And all the other dishes looked very tasty, which were carried past us. On the next holiday, there was no longer going.

The Cafe Windbag Countess is home in a historic mill farm. The mares inside are lovingly executed. There are some anecdotes here. The menu is extensive and there is something for everyone. Very recommended are the carving, the chicken in the nest or also the Sauren dumplings. Of course one can also plaster one of the numerous variants of the Lohengrin wind bag. If you still have room for a piece of cake after lunch, it is recommended to take a piece of Dachi or cheesecake at the front of the counter.
