Great but expensive. The medium rare 10oz filet was perfect. The twice-baked potato was delicious. Servers went above and beyond. Not 'Ruth 's Chris ' expensive, but close. $106 for two including $20 tip.
HIGH END DINNING. My date and I came across Carmines as we were headed for BBQ. Steak and sea food being my preference we decided to revise our plan. Obivously under dressed we entered anyway. Non the less they greeted us as if we were dressed for the occasion, seated us with a smile. We started with a pair of apple martinis that were spot on. We ordered porterhouse and filet mignon both with lobster tails. All prepaired to our direction. We enjoyed the atmosphere as a fun loving affectionate couple. The server was attentive and gave us breathing room. She thanked us for coming in as did the host. We had a 177 dollar bill and couldnt of been more pleased that we had changed our minds about BBQ.
Surprisingly the best. Steak is like coffee.<br/ <br/ When you see a Starbucks, you know what you 're getting it 's a good product that you can depend on to be a certain way. If you try a local place, it could go one of two ways you 're generally either very happy that you went off the grid of known chains or you are left with a cup of ash in poorly frothed milk thinking 'help me! '<br/ <br/ Carmine 's is the former. I was in St. Louis yet again with a choice of where to eat when in the mood for steak, I 've frequently gone to Ruth 's Chris good for a dependably correctly cooked steak, despite the fact that the butter that it oozes obliterates the steak 's own inherent marbling, concealing the fact that it isn 't exactly wagu beef. I was in a strange mood and went for a random steakhouse Carmine 's. I was heavily rewarded.<br/ <br/ First off, the value is astounding. For less than a Ruth 's Chris steak, you get a BIGGER steak with a BIG salad or soup and a BIG side dish that you can 't finish. A 33 10 ounce filet is a great deal only if it 's cooked exactly the way you like it and here, they don 't mess around. Rare is RARE in the European style, so if you don 't want it cold in the middle, order medium rare. I ordered medium, my companion ordered rare, and we were both delightfully happy with the way it was cooked these things must be cooked on the surface of the sun, as they were perfectly red inside and seared dark nearly to the crisp on the outside. I ordered the peppered tenderloin not for the faint of heart, but as a huge pepper lover, I loved the VERY BOLD flavor, especially with a kick of worcestershire on the side. The steaks were soft to cut into and fell apart perfectly.<br/ <br/ The soup and salad were NOT throwaways, as they typically are. I ordered Caesar salad, and was pleasantly surprised to note the lack of overly sardininess and excessive use of cheesiness that some places go for it was lemony and crisp. My husband ordered soup with the intention of setting it aside to decorate the table and ended up devouring the whole thing it was hearty and well salted and delightful.<br/ <br/ The entrees all come with sides also not throwaways. The russet mashed potatoes tasted more like sweet potatoes they were slightly sugared, creamy, with chunks of gently shredded peel in them. They were buttery, salted, and didn 't need a thing delicious! The risotto was my side choice it was firm (correct! while still sticky enough to hold together and resembled mac and cheese in a wholly good way.<br/ <br/ Dessert was also not a throwaway they are proud of their desserts for a good reason. Delicious, not to be missed!<br/ <br/ Finally, the alcohol tab. I was shocked (shocked! to discover that the beers were NOT 8 they were 4 or less. I asked for Stella, and while they didn 't stock it, they recommended a local variety to me that I 've never tried. Delicious, perfect for a Stella lover... quite a fun find!<br/ <br/ The ambiance lends itself to a suit or jeans and a polo. It 's classic steakhouse without the stick up its .<br/ <br/ I will eat here every time we get to St. Louis.
SImply amazing. Went to dinner at Carmine's tonight with three friends. Let me tell you the service was outstanding. The waitress (alycia) had personality for a mile. She treated us very well. Ordered a NY Strip with a side of risotto. The steak was excellent. But the risotto was the BEST I have ever had. Creamy, buttery, with a bit of mushroom, and perfect seasoning. Everyone else enjoyed their food equally as much. I would definately return here, even though it is a bit pricy.
