Avaliação da contribuiçãoNice place. App won't allow me give 5 star. Here is vegan options, several types of maffins, cookies, coffee with soy milk. Everything well labeled (vegan, gf, etc). Place isn't just an ordinary bakery, but workers owned cooperative.
I had read about this place on happycow and have come here twice, on both recent trips to San Francisco Mission District. Was just here in October 2012. Here's my Arizmendi Bakery review. It's primarily a bakery that also makes pizzas, and it's and a great place to get a baked treat and a coffee in the daytime. I thoroughly enjoyed coming here, and if I lived in San Francisco, I would stop in everyday. The coffee served at all the Arizmendi Bakeries in the Bay Area is Equinox brand and is good. During both trips when I visited, there were several marked vegan items (1 vegan cookie, 1 vegan scone, 1 vegan muffin, 1 savory foccacia bread); plus you can find vegan-suitable bread. Each day's pizza variety always contain dairy, so if you wish to have vegan pizza, you must custom order 24 hours+ in advance.
An original San Francisco Bay Area staple you can always count on! Long before artisanal breads and price tags of $15 a loaf was Arizmendi!
Loveeeeee! This bakery has so many options: cookies, breads, scones, rolls, and more. I've been here a couple times, but I still feel like there's so much left to try. They even have some vegan options, which are clearly labeled. This place is about a 5 minute walk from BART. It has seating both inside and outside. Most recently, I decided to try their pizza. I am a Sliver and Cheeseboard fan, so I was excited. Arizmendi has the same concept of serving only one kind of pizza per day. I ordered half a pizza. We had to wait a few minutes, but it still came out pretty quickly. The pizza was given to us in two warm foil packets and each contained two slices and a sliver. I thought it was an interesting way to serve a half pizza. I'm not sure if they always do it like this because it's easier to carry or if they knew that our group had two people. The pizza of the day had broccolini on it. I was skeptical, but it ended up tasting good! The pizza was salty and flavorful. It was similar to Sliver and Cheeseboard, but the crust seemed different and the toppings were unique. We also got a blueberry and strawberry scone, pecan roll, and cheese potato focaccia. The scone was buttery and flaky. The berries provided nice sweetness and acidity. Very yum! The pecan roll was sticky and sweet. You might like this if you like sweets like cinnamon rolls. The focaccia was okay. I think the potato was too much. I didn't like the texture or taste on top of the thick sourdough focaccia. Might just be personal preference though. I know some people who love bread or pizza topped with potato.Really tasty baked goods. I will definitely be back!
The sourdough baguette for $6 was excellent! The pizza of the day was amazing and the focaccia was light and delicious.
