Monti Sibillini - SAN GINESIO

I visited for Sunday lunch with family and friends and having been a number of times was looking forward to a good authentic marchigiani meal. I could not have been more disappointed. On arrival the welcome we received was cool at best. Having been reluctantly shown to our table the waitress arrived to take our order. She could not have been more rude if she had tried. She barked the options at us (no menu available) which where a little limited to say the least. She took our order and left, no polite chit chat or any effort to make us feel anything other than unwelcome. The food arrived promptly enough and the pasta dishes where palatable if a little salty. This did not prepare us for our main course of pork. In all my years I have never seen any thing so unappetising. It was a platter of greasy pieces of hairy fat and bone with the odd piece of gristle thrown in for good measure. The side orders of chips and salad left a little to be desired too. Chips dry, dead fly in the salad. To add insult to injury the bill was extremely high compared to other local restaurants. If you are every in this area give this place a wide birth. There are plenty of excellent alternatives.

This was the worst meal I have never been able to eat. Rude service if you can call it that, salty gnocchi and then pork offal on a platter with undercooked chips and a salad with added flies. Then a really expensive bill. Terrible. Awful. Inedible. Poor value. Just don’t …….

I have made many visits to this restaurant and have always enjoyed good food; especially the gnocchi, pasta and pizzas. Mum cooks,dad and son serve. It is a no frills,basic good food stop. The excellent daily 'menu ' is great value.
