Avaliação da contribuiçãoI was lucky to experience this place during the night in Saugatuck, MI. The food was great and the service even better, we were privileged enough to meet the owner and chef who gave us his recommendations. The asparagus cream was to die, and the pork fleets and beef tenderloin were delicious. The ambience to this place was simply great. Everything about this place was really great!
The crab cakes were perfect and the drinks were great! Our waitress was fantastic, we enjoyed talking to her. The cook was friendly and welcoming. Great place. Only disappointment was the scallops, they were not my favorite... sweet and lacked some taste I hoped. My fiancée has the white fish with Brussels shoots that was amazing! Overall great place I can only see is becoming more and more amazing.
Unbelievable. We are spoiled by our Milwaukee food scene, but we were SO impressed by this place. The ambience was great, the food was incredible and the service was fantastic. (Love you, Mick!) Often we ask for advice from a server on the menu and get a half-hearted oh everything is great Instead, Mick was able to make us honest recommendations that made completely our meal. The bread and Mango Chutney was so good, the asparagus and mushroom soups were excellent and the ducks were also fantastic. The cold smoked watermelon was (as recommended incredible, and the crab cakes were perhaps the best I ever had. I wish we could visit more often!
My husband and I came here to celebrate our first anniversary. From the beginning to the end, our experience was wonderful. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive. I ordered the blueberry Mojito on his recommendation that was delicious. We started by sharing the Caesar salad and the pig bell, both were wonderful. For our entrees I ordered the berkshire pork chop while my husband ordered the 30-day dry manhattan steak. The various flavors they incorporated into the dishes were so fresh and went perfectly together. No detail was overlooked. The next time we're in town, we'll definitely be back.
I almost hesitate to write this review as I'm afraid it will be difficult to then get in at this restaurant. However, that wouldn't be fair to this renewed Black Walnut. (It is NOT to be confused with the one that was there last summer with the same name which was not good at all. I can only say that last night was one of the best dinners I have had ever anywhere, even Europe. There was not one misstep in any of our meals and were some fabulous twists on old favorites, such as the chef's take on the old iceberg wedge salad and mushroom bisque... simply wonderful.
