Dec 30 fabby great welcome roaring fire small good menu bit sparse on the fish side but the pork belly was delish such a bice place not too crowded loved it
This is a lovely pub in the countryside. My husband and I both had the Spanish pizza which was amazing. What let it down was when I checked the bill before paying there was a £1 voluntary donation . When I queried this with the bar staff I was told they partnered with a local charity and this was a donation to it. They didn 't know the name of the charity but thought it was to do with homelessness.
I went on a Tuesday evening thinking the pub would not be busy but we only just managed to get a table. The food and service was fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, I had the salmon with a delicious sauce, followed with a trio of puddings which were all beautifully presented. This is one of the few local pubs with a good website that has a menu so you can see clearly if the variety of food and the prices are suitable. I will definitely go again.
Excellent sirloin steak and fillet steak burger: well presented, good food. Delicious ice cream, some very interesting flavours. Most of the staff we engaged with were friendly. We got the sense, when we tipped when paying the bill, that the tips are not all going to the staff. This was a little disappointing, if it is the case.
