Avaliação da contribuiçãoIt 's unfortunate that this inn romanticizes the confederacy under the guise of being a 'Gone with the Wind ' theme.Note: I was born and raised in the South. I 'm very proud of my southern roots, but very ashamed of this part of southern heritage. My wife and I checked out early because the inn didn 't align with our values. We were extremely disappointed. We will never return to this place. My wife and I booked a stay here for a romantic weekend getaway. When we pulled up the inn, it looked beautiful, and we thought that we had made a good choice. However, the more we explored the inside, the more uncomfortable we felt. Most of the rooms are named after Confederate generals and the majority of the memorabilia was confederate themed. Our frustration, disappointment, disgust was further compounded when we learned that the home was originally built in 1854 by Charles Koonce, a Pennsylvania Representative whose proudest accomplishment was to vote for abolishing slavery in Pennsylvania. Mr. Koonce was such a staunch abolitionist that he used his home as a part of the Underground Railroad to help enslaved persons escape the shackles of slavery. It was very clear that this inn specifically intended to glorify the confederacy every chance that it got. We couldn 't have been more disappointed and disgusted by their deliberate choice to ignore the historical significance of this residence in favor of a one-sided pro-confederacy perspective. In closing, if you are someone who strongly has a romantic attachment to the confederacy and wants to glorify it, this is the place for you.If you 're someone who values learning both sides of history and who sees the confederacy and enslavement as a blemish on America 's history, you should avoid this place at all cost.To borrow a line from the confederate anthem 'I Wish I Was in Dixie: ' look away, look away, look away.Noteworthy details: Glorifies the confederacy. Ignores it 's history.
We went for Sunday brunch! It's awesome. Food and service was awesome! Gotta try a blueberry crepe. Oh my. Sooooo good.
We stayed here Friday till Saturday and it had to be the best experience I've EVER had from the minute we arrived everything was absolutely perfect polite staff especially Betsy I've NEVER seen a more polite person and to know your names like she did then our dinner in stonewalls had to be the best dinner out I've ever eaten the swimming pool was so relaxing then breakfast in Ashleys was excellent our stay was worth EVER PENNY WE PAID ; we already booked to return in November
My experience with the Tara will be good. They have nice outside atmosphere, the walking trail was nice peaceful. We had my sister wedding there, the outside ceremony was very beautiful. The reception was outside too underneath the tent. Our food it taste like frozen food, the meat was not cook very well. They order prime rib and I don't like it it was not cook properly. My mom complain to the chef , the chef slam the door on her face, rude! It was under staff, they drag another table to the dinner. They know that it was a wedding coming up soon, they should hire more help. There was no bartender, two of my cousins was the bartender to serve the guests. There was no space for flowers arrangements, we use their dining room to arrange flowers. They had no space for nothing. They was no communication within the coordinator and staff.
Had a great time last evening at Stonewalls Tavern for dinner. It's always an adventure to dine there and as always your Hospitality, Service and Perfection were outstanding. We have been to Stonewalls so many times...I can't begin to think how many. We love you sooooo much and will be back very soon, one for our 50th Wedding Anniversary Anniversary in November and with some friends as soon as we can schedule a time with them, hopefully very soon. Thanks again,Ray and Penny Flauto
