Avaliação da contribuiçãoGorgeous mansion on lake Champlain. Beautiful gardens everything is well maintained. Very accommodating with luggage and service. After noon tea was special. Breakfast is a feast. Rooms: Nicely appointed convenient and quiet. Felt very comfortable. Rooms: 4 Service: 4 Location: 5 Hotel highlights: Luxury, Great view, Quiet
Restaurant: had a dinner there, both left underwhelmed. Burrata with pesto was great but the gorgeous bread coming with it was burnt and tough to bite. Oysters didn’t have much taste (tasted like lake water to me). Shells with meat were rustic. Not impressive. Decent home cooking. Nothing elevated. Scallops were too salty (altho perfectly seared and fresh) and the clam sauce they came with was too salty too. Didn’t finish. The Cherry pot de creme was below average too. Cocoa nibs don’t belong there they are bitter and way too tough to bite compared to other ingredients. Didn’t enjoy the dessert. Waiters and staff were pure perfection, location and view are magnificent.
Came for breakfast. The inn looks gorgeous. The interior is so beautiful. The garden is beautiful. The breakfast is fresh with ingredients from the farm. Have to get outdoor seating to see the lake view! Service: 5 Location: 5

Bring good books and someone to enjoy the peaceful nature with! Yes, it is a beautiful spot. Wonderful nature surrounding the inn, peaceful and secluded. And four stars ONLY for that reason. Definitely stay here if you want to stay in an old Vanderbilt mansion, with a wonderful old library, tea room and old fashioned sitting rooms, all with lake view. It is stunning. Why it should be more like 3 max: It is not really a hotel. Do not expect to get the value you would get at a traditional hotel. The staff is pleasant but not very professional. Yes, you *will* pay a lot if money. If you are all about the view, the surroundings etc perfect. The rooms retain much of their original decorations and tea time is served every pm minus real tea time sandwiches but this is not Windsor castle but an old mansion in the US OF A Even sharing bathrooms at 400 USD a night can be okay. Not okay is not having your room made up, the shared bathrooms not cleaned and the shabby plumbing in the shared bathrooms. It is clear that the money goes toward the farm and the probably very costly maintenance of the building. They do leave welcome cheese made at the farm as a welcome present, and a poem with candy for the night. But that's not enough it is a nice touch that does not compensate for other shortcomings. But the place is beautiful and well worth staying there for a night or two if one is willing to make concessions and knows what to expect. If you have cash to throw around, do yourself a favor and get a room with en suite bathroom and pay those 600 dollars per night treat yourself to a weekend in this amazing spot but do not expect to have amenities like in a similar priced hotel. Ah yes, and bring your own drinks because the bar closes at 9 pm ! . Mostly older crowd people are not here for nightlife.
