Old Downton Lodge - Shropshire

This restaurant is excellent! I would highly recommend it. I have been twice and I would definitely go again!

The main dining hall had a medieval feel with triangular dovecote holes in the stone walls, tapestries, and a well-spaced seating plan. We opted for the 6-course tasting menu with a wine flight, while my wife stuck to water as the designated driver. Each course was expertly paired with wines, with personal explanations from the waitstaff adding to the experience. The Lebanese Chateau Musar with Wagyu and the Pinot Noir with pork were particularly enjoyable. The total cost of £200 was well worth it for the high-quality food, excellent service, and unique atmosphere. Despite minor issues such as mismatched background music and sub-par decaf coffee at the end, the overall experience was fantastic. We highly recommend Old Downton for its exceptional dining experience, which surpasses many establishments in Cambridge and London.

Absolutely fantastic place, the sun shone as we sat in a beautifully landscaped coutyard, almost felt like individual garden areas. The room was very tasteful and finished to a high standard. The food was magnificent and time was given to talk us through the wine flight as this not our area if expertise. Over all I could not find a thing to fault!

Exceptional food a very talented chef... Wine flight could be upgraded (and price increased accordingly to match the quality of the food). It was very good value for money but I think the amazing food could benefit from a fine wine flight ...

Delicious tasting menu with unusual foods. Presentation of food was amazing. Service excellent. Small dining room created a lovely atmosphere.
