Avaliação da contribuiçãoLarge small pub with a good selection of ales and beer
Homely and welcoming. A long way from the place I was warned to avoid as a kid. Excellently kept real ale and apparently always sourced locally.
Very nice historical pub, outside area and serving staff are lovely.
Located halfway up (or down) the seriously steep and historic Cartway is the equally historic The Black Boy, named after a nickname of King Charles II. This wonderful pub had a roaring fire and a fine selection of ales, including Ruby Porter from the Gorgeous Beer Co (near Telford), Enville's Ginger Gothic, and Olde Trip (originally Hardy Hansons, now apparently brewed by Greene King). All of these were excellent and fairly priced. The ambience was great, with friendly banter from knowledgeable barmaid Tracy. We could have spent all afternoon in this place, but it was part of a pub tour so we had to move on!
Visited here in Feb August 2018, really enjoyed it both times. The service and atmosphere was really nice and recommend it.
