There was an initial hiccup over a missing reservation but, luckily for us, another party failed to turn up and we finally got a table. The starter of crispy keropok was good, especially when paired with the Bhindi palli fry and the Gobi Manchurian, which was fried okra bits in sambal. We ordered the Hyderabad chicken dhum biryani and the Vegetarian Brinjal dhum biryani. Both rice were nicely spiced and fluffly and full of flavor. The brinjal had disintegrated into the rice, so much so that we mainly saw the stems of the vegetables. The chicken was cooked nicely and was soft and full of flavor. We also liked the Andhra mutton fry. It was tasty, though I prefer the mutton mysore at our usual Indian fave, Samy’s. We also tried the fresh lime soda, sweet and salty version it was refreshing, though expensive at $9.80 before tax for two glasses. Service was good and friendly, and quick. It is a small place with limited tables, though staff did mention they had opened a second store nearby at Chander Road. They do have two tables along the corridor, but there are no fans, and there is constant music and cigarette smoke from the bistro next door.
On the expensive side but luckily the food and delivery wait time was fine. Huge portion of rice, great for sharing but it seems like they topped plain rice on the biryani. Fried cauliflower and butter chicken tasted great but the serving portion is quite small for the price. Will patronize them again.
Value for specially for biryani. We ordered chicken biryani, goan fish curry to taste. The portion of the chicken biryani is enormous. You can just order 2plates between 3pax. Spices in the briyani was quite flavourful. The taste was pretty awesome. The chicken pieces were tender. The curry of the goan fish was tastey, could onlybask more was a fresh fish. Texture of fish tasted not that fresh. Overall the place I felt a bit not spacious enough for the ambience to enjoy. Staffs were friendly and even helped to pack the left over food. Definitelty worth to try the food here.
Mr Biryani @Norris road The service of Malaccan born Shila is very good, attentive, friendly and charming (She is pretty too! . The Hyderabad Chicken Dum Biryani is superb (meat portion too snall, rice too much but you can order some side dish to compensate , the masala tea is out of the world and that white color dessert is heavenly....I dabao for my wife after my meal. By the way, my badminton kaki CS Tan recommended me this place. Thanks Bro!
I was a bit skeptical at the beginning. Fancy packaging and good quality paper bag for takeaway. I was pleasantly surprised. Large portion; I had it for lunch and dinner. Chicken was tender and not over cooked. Rice was fragrant and moist. Masala used was just the right amount to flavor, very subtle. The raita was fresh, wrapped up the meal nicely. The only thing could be improved is the curry, not really sure what it was. Flavorful but seems did not belong to the Briyani. Must try and affordable; under $14 for the Hyderabadi Chicken Dum Briyani. C’est délicieux!
