Fur Faergekro - Skive

This restaurant is the 'ferry inn ' situated by the harbour on this lovely island....a small island situated in the Limfjord in mid Jutland. The food in the Ferry Inn is traditional Danish fare....delicious and comes in huge helpings. The menu never varies..there are a few meat dishes and a few fish dishes ... The lunch menu is similar, never varying but always reliably delicious served with beer not from the islands new brewery but from a brewery located near Skive, Hancock 's. The simple decor has not changed either for years. It is what it is. Try the fantastic 'flat fish ' ... Or the Schnitzel ....or at lunchtime, the 'shooting star ' ...a spectacular open sandwich with flat fish, prawns, asparagus and caviar piled on top of a slice of bread....

Second day on Fur and I was treated to proper Danish lunch. In very traditional surroundings. The kro decor is very basic but it has sort of a charm. As we were recovering from the mamouth meal from the night before, decided to take a light lunch. My partner and her sister went for the smoer brod and being in middle of limfjord I went for the blue mussels. The Danish open sandwiches were described on the menu as unspecified and when we asked the waitress what they are, she responded that we can have any of the classic danish toppings. My mussels were delicious served in what I judge to be a 2 litre pot specially designed for mussels. It was half full, must have contained at least 50 mussels. Couple of flutes to soak up the cream sauce which had fascinating taste. Friendly service and good selection of local beers. Both Fur and Hancock. Excellent value for money.

We got a nice lunch plate before we left Fur. The food was good and a sweet and this service. The place was really good visited and we also return.

Very authentic, DANISH, down-to-earth kitchen. Large portions at reasonable proces. Enjoy local Fur experience!
