Avaliação da contribuiçãoExcellent food - good size and good value portions ( fed up with other restaurants serving huge portions that are too big to eat). The corn with Parmesan and chipotle mayo was particularly good. House wine was great value, though list is limited. Good play list of music and the desserts were really great ( again not too big). Will be back again
Was seeking out quality Ribs on a Saturday so ventured out to South Melbourne to see what they were like...First impressions was a medium sized restaurant separated into two areas. It's an industrial feel which the owner has carefully thought out the interior decor and it works really. The music itself was a mixture of artists but could of been turned down a couple of notches as having conversations at times were strained. The main waitress we had was Molly and she was an asset to the restaurant; friendly, efficient and attentive to our table. The food;We ordered-- 500g Ribs- Smoked Torn Pork Burger- Roasted Smashed Baby PotatoesRibs: 500g is a good amount for 1 person, the dry rub was stunning and the two sauces (BBQ and Plum) were a good contrast between each other and delicious. As the meat was smoked it helped bring out the flavours, the flavour were one of the better experiences with Rib I have had in Melbourne. The slaw was moist and crispy and represented a freshness to cut through the flavours of the meat.Unfortunately the meat was a bit dry, which tainted the experience somewhat. One annoyance for me was there was no finger bowl nor was there a plate/bowl to discard the bones. The Pork Burger: Stunning is the word that comes to mind. The meat portion was very generous and it was very moist. Light quality bun too! That Chipotle Mayo was a standout; wasn't overpowering and had a enough of a bite to it to compliment the meat. The potatoes: Decent amount of potatoes, enough for 3 people. They were well seasoned and cooked beautifully so the potato was silky smooth, with a slight crunch on the skin. Yum.The part that let down the night was in two parts; From ordering the food, it took 20min to arrive, which considering the restaurant only had approx. 8 people in the restaurant at that stage, it was slow.Further to that; the potatoes were forgotten and when advising a waitress, she advised she couldn't see our order number on the table (keep in mind only 4 tables were occupied).Coffee: Long Black was well made with a good balance between strength and flavour.Restrooms, more than ample for the the amount of seats in the restaurant and they were clean.SUMMARYIt's the little things that have the ability to make or break a night. For us, various points left a sour taste BUT overall this is a quality place for you to satisfy your carnivorous urges.Service Efficiency. 3/5Atmosphere/Ambiance. 4/5Quality of Coffee. 4/5Range of Wine/Beer. 4/5Quality of Food. 4/5Price Range (Low, Medium, High): MediumDress Code (Casual, Smart Casual, Formal): CasualCan you book a table if required: YesFree Wi-Fi?: NoDo they accept AMEX/Diners Club Cards?: YesValue for money. 4/5Availability of Restrooms. 4/5Parking Availability. 3/5 (Side street parking or closest parking building is a 6min walk away on Clarke Street, Southbank (Crown Parking).Total: 30/40
I love my meat and am currently loving the American smoked meat experiences in Melbourne. Unfortunately this is not one that I can recommend. Hidden in an old warehouse the atmosphere is great when you arrive, the staff are friendly and welcoming. We decided to have a drink at the bar to start and usually watching a professional Mixologist is a bit of a show, not here I'm afraid, we felt the real barman got the night off, and the replacement was frustrating to watch. The menu description of the dishes does not explain well what the dish is. The waiter told us that the sharing platter was a good size for two, however, it was more an entree size. The meats we all felt were extremely dry and lacked flavour. We followed this with a cheese plate and an affogato, just average. The wine list is small and not that exciting. For me when I go to a meat restaurant I expect to be able to select from a range the compliments the food, not so here. All in all, been there done that, probably won't come back.
This place is consistently delicious. You can have a smoked meat dish or an Asian style soup with braised meats. The smoked tofu dish is amazing
Arranged to meet friends here to try somewhere new. We walked in early prior to opening and were directed to our table and offered drinks. Something i have found some places would send us outside to wait so that was appreciated. The menu was imaginative and offered various share platters as well as single person meals and side dishes. both platters we ordered were exceptional. The wait staff were accommodating and happy to recommend different dishes to try. The octopus was delightful to the pallet. I am looking forward to returning to try other dishes on the menu in the near future.
