Good start. I went to the bar to order food and drink, where a couple of young lads were chatting behind the bar. That 's fine apart from the fact they both just looked blankly at me, and I had to ask for service! One of the lads came over, and I ordered two simple meals and two soft drinks. He forgot what the drinks were, so I repeated, then he forgot what the last drink was! Is it really that hard these days?! I left the bar with my coke and oj and lemonade, sat at the table, and waited for the food to arrive. Came fairly quickly in fairness and was warm. Shame it wasn 't hot, but acceptable. The girl bringing the food over walked past us twice, looking for our table. When she found us, she just put the two meals down, said here, and turned to walk away. As my partner and I were switching the meals over to have the right one as she didn 't ask, the server turned back to us and said, Oh yeah, do you want sauce? We asked for ketchup and mayo. Off she went, she came back a minute or two later with two plastic pots that had cheap ketchup and some odd tasting mayo. Not only is it expensive in the pub, but you get knock-off sauce, not to mention the amount of plastic waste this is!! Thought everyone was conscious of waste these days?! Not here! Anyway, the simple burgers we ordered were quite nice and homemade. I would say. Shame they were not hot. The fries with skin on were quite good, but only warm, and there was a small pile of coleslaw. It was a small amount of fries and coleslaw which is rubbish for the cost. Definitely better off going yo micks monster burger on the hill and getting fresh hot value for money food. I wouldn 't bother going back, though a few staff were quite jolly. The environment is OK in there, but I guess it depends on who else is there. We were unfortunate enough to have a couple of kids jumping around by our table being quite noisy and hitting a balloon around near us. My other half has a weird phobia of balloons! Anyway, the staff didn 't seem to care about them being a nuisance around other diners and in the walkways! To sum up , average food, poor service, pricey for what you get and not the best atmosphere.
This pub has just reopened and we were greeted by friendly and cheerful staff ,shown to our table and told how to order. The food was very tasty and if you go Monday to Friday 12noon to 6pm they have 2 meals for £9.99 a real bargain when eating out. I would recommend booking as they were so grateful we had booked on the day due to be being extra busy.
Fancy something to eat? Great menu value for money. Excellent service family and kids welcome. You won't be disappointed..
Waited for half an hour for simple fish and chips! When it arrived, it was cold and meals were taken back. Waited another 20 minutes for 2 hotter meals to come out. They were better. We asked for garlic mushrooms to come out same time as our main but it came out before and was so overcooked, could hardly get the fork into the outer coating and was dripping in grease. Not good.
Fantastic restaurant at the Clarence Pier. Staff were very friendly and the food was really nice. Also amazed at the size of the kids portion was brilliant (see photo). Would 100% recommend to anyone in the area.
