Avaliação da contribuiçãoLoved our lunch at Olean's café. We tried the fried cat fish and a variety of sites: mash potatoes, green beans, mac and cheese, rice.. and our favorite, corn bread. Too bad they were out of biscuits!!
Smells wonderful as soon as you walk in, the staff was very friendly and helpful and the food was pure home made looks like with lots of love
Some of the BEST home cooked food in Tallahassee. This is southern, soul comforting food!!! Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. I usually get eggs, bacon, grits and toast. I also love the pancakes! They are super fluffy and cooked to order. Lunch my go to is baked chicken, collard greens and cabbage. The corn bread is sweet with a hint of vanilla. The serving sizes are more than enough for 2 meals. I also enjoy the mac n cheese
Only reason I’m giving this 3 stars is because of the customer service. I’m not from Florida but decided to stop by this place while I was visiting my younger cousin who attends FAMU. When we walked in, there was an older lady who greeted us at the door(I’m assuming the owner). She was very warm and inviting. A young man emerged from behind the counter and told us they were sold out of all meat except the cube steak. I ordered two cubes steak plates both with candied yams and macaroni and cheese which came up to be $31 and some change. That’s a bit pricey for a lil piece of meat and two small servings of sides but anyway the cube steak did not taste like meat at all. It taste like a ball of flour. Whoever made that cube steak more than likely added a binder to stretch out the meat. If you’re going to charge those prices please give ppl real meat and stop binding it with flour. I’ve never had a cube steak that had to be bonded with anything. I’ve noticed that Florida soul food taste a lot different than other southern states and not in a good way. The sides were dry and lacked seasoning. Maybe they are good on other days but that day it was a major no for me.
I never miss a chance to go to Oleans while in Tallahassee. Best breakfast in town. The cheese grits, fish, eggs and sausage is the best. The place is always super busy but the line moves fast. The pancakes are cooked to order. Great hometown place.
