Cafe Pispala - Tampere

Parts of the brunch were great (for instance the superb pancakes and the tasty, crispy bacon), but the scone was very dry and hard, plus lacking in taste, the potatoes were tasty, but way too salty, and the main problem was the service. Super disappointed, we booked a table already and still had to wait 30 minutes afterwards. Still no table for us. We left. The food was not that great by the look of it. The experience was super poor.

Really enjoyed the brunch! I’ve visited here several times and the quality has always been great. Portions are big and plenty. And the pancakes are one of the best I’ve ever had. Place is always busy, so I definitely recommend to book a table for brunch. Otherwise you might get turned away.

Pispala is a quaint and unique area of Tampere, definitely worth a visit. This was my first visit at Cafe Pispala, and I will definitely visit it again. I had a weekend brunch dish, Vege stack as a vegan version, and ordered vegan pancakes as a dessert. It was a tad pricey, but the place was so beautiful that I paid for the atmosphere too. It was like being on a tourist trip in my old hometown! The Vege Stack was a fun dish: a stack of fried tortillas spread with bean stew, with toasted potatoes and vegetables in the middle. Not one of the best things I 've eaten, but I was happy. But the vegan pancakes were exceptional! Not too sweet, airy and puffy, and the slightly tangy syrup worked well with them. I celebrated the meal with a cognac.

Not a bad place for breakfast or brunch. I had the Cava with the full works, pretty sizeable portion, enough for two. The sausages are very small though. A good experience in the right weather, luckily for us it was very hot and sitting on the terrace is very pleasant.
