It appeared a lot of people were dropping in to pick up a rent-a-picnic basket filled with what appears from the menu delicious easy food items to take to the local park and enjoy, you can even rent a blanket.
So basically, I stumbled across this place on a lonely winter's night for a bite to eat and ended up having a great night. First, let me say that an earl grey martini is the best thing that's happened in this city. I will admit I'm a die hard Earl Grey fan, so maybe I'm biased, but damn that's a good cocktail. Second - Mel and Kate are babes and amazing at their jobs. Great food recommendations (have a burger, you will not be disappointed - or wings, equally amazing). I especially like the honey bourbon sauce and tequila jalapeño. I've heard the place has a great brunch too, but I have yet to test it out. I highly recommend you stop by if you're in the 'hood.
We took a rather long walk around the city and were looking for a particular type of bar. The bar we were looking at fell through and we ended up here. Definitely no regrets. The first floor was perfect (the second floor was a sports bar. Didn't check). This bar had about 7 tables, a cabin-like decor and a wonderful bartender. We ended up watching the Tragically Hip concert there, despite not planning on staying.Basically, great food, nice decor, decent drink menu/specials and the staff was wonderful. Despite being quite out of the way for me, I plan on returning sooner than later. Also, the spinach dip might be the best I've had in the city. The shared platter is also a good choice, with wings, cauliflower (seasoned), jalapenos poppers, onion-mac n cheese things, 5 dips, potato wedges and fabulous service.
We went in for brunch because we saw 4 dollar mimosas (1st mistake) I ordered burnt eggs benedict which was supposed to be burnt ends of a beef brisket on Benedict and there was not one piece of burnt brisket and it was about 60% fat. The server never asked how breakfast was because I assumed she knew... I let her know that breakfast was horrible so she took one mimosa off my bill after telling her the mimosa was all I enjoyed... she still never asked the other customers how their breakfast was I will not be returning and don't suggest anybody go to this location
Stumbled up on this awesome place as the restaurant we went to the area for was surprisingly closed. Now what do we do!? Wandered around a bit and for whatever reason had a good feeling about the place. Warmly greeted and Melissa was happy to turn down the music as I have an issue with loud and constant noises. She was happy to discuss the menu with us and the beer special for the evening. Food was very good...tasty, well presented and both of us had to say thanks but no to dessert! Very pleasant conversation with Melissa. Possibly as good a restaurant experience as I've had this year...and I've been out a lot! Definitely a go back to when in Toronto again!
