A beautiful restaurant with great food and service. Between us we had duck, roulade and steak and all were very happy with their choice. Thanks for a nice evening!
I had lunch with a friend two days in a row on October 12 and 13, 2015 at the restaurant Weinwirtschaft Friedrich Wilhelm, set in a former Gymnasium (high school) that evolved from a historic Jesuit College dating back to 1561. This is where Trier born philosopher...Karl Marx obtained his high school diploma in 1835. They own Riesling producing vineyards in the region since 1561.The restaurant has a comfortable and intimate brasserie atmosphere with several rooms and well spaced tables. There is a terrace in the summer. The service was friendly and efficient. The first day I had a beef tartar, well spiced, with fries that were well done even by Belgian standards. The second day I had Backhendl (fried breaded chicken nuggets, after an 18th century Viennese recipe) again with frites. Both dishes were tasty. This with a good glass of Riesling. Including water and coffee, we paid 40 50 euros for two which is very reasonable. There is a wine shop (Vinothek Tafelfreuden) adjacent to the restaurant also selling jams and various condiments. A good address.
Idyllic atmosphere, succelent tapas, very good service, and varied menu. They also have high chairs, which is perfect!
Eating goose around the feast of St. Martin is a German culinary tradition that a bunch of friends of mine and I really enjoy. This restaurant has recently been a very nice discovery for us. They did not offer goose in their menu when I...contacted them, but the manager gave us the possibility to order the geese in advance and cook them for us with the traditional side dishes (gravy, red cabbage, chestnuts and salad). Everything was abundant and delicious and the white wine and desserts we had were very good too. The staff was very friendly. Organizing the event was easy; they showed a lot of flexibility and the service was really fast and good. Weinwirtschaft Friedrich-Wilhlem is very well-located, right in the centre of Trier. The atmosphere is very nice in this restaurant. We were people and had our own room, which gave us a feeling of comfort and privacy.
