We met in morgins and wandered, it took about 75 minutes, followed by apéritifs outside, lunch inside and dessert outside. it was relaxing and great for mingling. the weather, even midd september, was exceptional, so the prospects were spectacular. we were really good. by a friendly staff that adapts to our desires and needs. some of us had our dogs with us, and they were also very satisfied. a great opportunity to spend a day, to wander and see, to eat and to drink, to participate. morgins is less than an hour made by lausanne so easy in a day
The restaurant is beatifully located with a splendid view on the Alps, the famous Dents du Midi. We had a very good lunch. Excellent cheese fondue with boletus. Our other dish was a quite nice Ferrage ommelette with very good French fries and salad. Good wine list. Very friendly staff and good coffee.
I love the Ferrage. In my opinion it is the best restaurant in the Port de Soleil and one of the hidden pearls in Switzerland. We go there several times a summer - as a couple, with our kids, with friends and business guests. The food is homemade though so dont expect a quick meal. The menu is typical mountain food with the welcome addition of grilled meat skewers and lovely homemade desserts, and the best homemade fries you can imagine. The local cheese they use (Champso!) is among the best in Switzerland. Try the fondue with wild garlic. The view of the Dent du Midi is world class. It's true that the service can be a bit slow, but they are super friendly, and if you are in a rush, you can walk up to the bar and gently expedite the situation. They are also dog friendly.
We went on a summers evening for the sunset and for the lovely brochette meats. We booked a little late to eat outside but our hosts greeted us with the option to take an aperitif outside followed by eating inside. The food may not be inspired but it is certainly very tasty. Locally produced meats and the menu goes through where every piece is sourced. The brochettes come with a salad, two vegetables, chips and two sauces. You can choose from chicken, pork, lamb or beef as well as a variety of other dishes. The salad is served as a starter with a lovely dressing which is a secret recipe of the chef! We were offered free refills of both vegetables, sauces and chips. The wine whilst not inexpensive was recommended by our waiter and was a perfect accompaniment to the meats we ate. We were all too full to try dessert but on a previous visit just for a drink we have sampled the local tarts. Simple food, served by lovely staff in a great location at the top of a mountain with stunning views. Lots of blankets and heaters provided for anyone who felt the chill once the sun went down. A must visit if you are holidaying in the Portes du Soleil during summer.
