But overall when done right really amazing dishes, and highly recommend the beef tartar and the New York steak. Also the pickles that came with the duck liver patte were so unique. Beet salad was also very unique. The staff some were friendly, some not so much. The price is on the high side but I think the food justifies it it is marketed as a more upscale restaurant compared to others in Truckee. There was a live show that evening and I will say it's fun but don't plan on hearing each other the acoustics are really really loud during a show. One bummer was the temperature no A/C so on warm summer evenings expect to be eating in ~80 degree temps inside, the fans weren't helping much.
Made a reservation, waited for the table. then we were sat in the kids room bc I had 2 teenagers. Little did they realize the teens accounted for the largest parts of the bill (salmon, poutine, lamb shank). The crème brûlée tasted like they forgot the sugar and we had to send it back. I wouldn’t recommend or return. I’m glad they accommodate kids but putting them and others in a noisy penalty room kills the experience.
This is truly a gem and in my opinion worthy of a Michelin star (coming from someone who worked in a Michelin star restaurant in France). We were in Lake Tahoe for 3 days and drove here twice. Don't miss out on this one!! Even the kids loved their dishes
We were visiting Truckee and my husband 's coworker recommended this place. I think a few heads up would have made the experience more pleasant for us. First, this is not necessarily a kid friendly place (we have a 5 month old baby) when I looked up the place it was described as a comfy bistro which would imply a casual, moderately priced, small restaurant. Instead it felt like a semi formal/upscale bar. Most entrees were around $50 which would be okay if we didn 't have a little baby that doesn 't always let us eat. We were looking for some warm comfort food. To be fair there was a QR code outside, but it was freezing and we had spent like 10 mins looking for parking not to mention carrying my baby around. That being said, my pasta was salty and not as warm as I would have expected, my mom ordered the octopus appetizer as her meal and she said it was great, my husband ordered the chicken which was just okay. For me the best part was the bread since it was crunchy on the outside and soft and warm on the inside. If I didn 't have my baby with me I would have loved to stay for the live music.
Surprisingly excellent food and wonderful service. One of my best restaurant experiences in all of the US! Cannot recommend it highly enough! The beef tartare was fabulous, as was the steak frites.
