Pei Wei - Tucson

This place used to be nice. Then they stopped accepting smart pay from your phone. They were one of first in area to have Coke Freestyle machines. Also gone. They use the fatty skin and scraps for all the chicken dishes except their orange chicken which you get like 5 nuggets of chicken. The restaurant is beat up. Hasn?t been touched up or remodeled in over a decade. Used to really like this place.

I tried the Spicy General Tso's Chicken at this chain restaurant and was pleasantly surprised by the quality. The portion size was generous for the price ($11) and the service was quick, even as the restaurant started to get busy. The staff member working the front counter during lunch on 7/7/22 deserves recognition for managing orders, deliveries, seating guests, and cleaning tables all by himself. This has become my go-to spot for Chinese food in Tucson, and I look forward to returning. However, I revisited a month later and was disappointed by the Thai Dynamite Chicken, which tasted like frozen chicken nuggets in ketchup. As a result, I have to give a lower rating and may not return for a while.

Well I clicked on three stars but it really should be two and a half. Before covid this was my favorite place to eat Asian food. I used to have wonderful baked tofu that was so firm and it could be found nowhere else it also came with a delicious sauce that had scallions and Ginger. Now they only have soft tofu that they deep fry if you wanted deep fried. they did not add any Ginger or scallions to my broccoli and rice dish so it was very boring. I guess I would say it was clean food but devoid of interest. Very disappointed and probably will not return. Oh I forgot to mention it's more expensive now.

My husband and I have been doing business with Pei Wei for many years. We order from Pei Wei (Broadway, store number 0030) for most of our catering events, which is weekly. We have never seen more professionalism than when we work with Amber and Josh. Their knowledge and expertise is beyond superior! The end result is the customer is happy.
