Fuji Sushi Buffet - Vacaville

I wished they had hot food like the Fuji Sushi Buffet in Elk Gove Sacramento.

Conveyor belt of sushi non stop selections to pick from. Seating time is 90 minutes max. You can also order sushi rolls or sashimi or nigiri if you don't see them on the conveyer. Many varieties of sushi rolls are also made for anyone to take when they place them on display. If you sit at a table, you can still walk over to the conveyer and select your food. Crowded on weekends. Make sure you make a reservation. Staff has always been kind to us in Vacaville. Have not tried their Concord location yet. Parking: Located in nut tree. Plenty of free parking including disabled parking spots. Wheelchair accessibility: They are wheelchair accessible.

Second time I been here. This time is not good today (7/7/24) the food is bad. Especially the jar of pickle gingers which looks dried and old, then the Wasabi next to it which either discolored or old paste sitting there. I sat right next to kitchen entrance. The bad is the salmon sashimi, couple peices tastes like smoked salmon mixed with fresh one. Overall the selection is better than the Elk Grove location but definitely not the taste.

I decided to dine here today for lunch at the sushi bar. As I am eating my sushi, I notice a woman waiting for a plate of food at the sushi chef counter. She informs them that there is a cockroach on the plate. The chef grabs the plate and the cockroach runs away on the sushi preparation table. Several chefs look for it while other chefs continue to prepare food. The ones who were looking for the cockroach continue to prepare food while checking for the cockroach every other minute. As I am watching and looking for the cockroach, I am looking at the conveyer belt where the sushi is. I see 5 baby cockroaches run back and forwth between the cracks and back onto the conveyer belt where the food is. I told my waiter this and said I no longer want to eat as I see the cockroaches running around the food. He apologizes and has me pay for my bill. I told him he needs to tell a manager ASAP as it is unsafe and gross. The lack of urgency was concerning. Seeing the baby cockroaches scurry back and forth between the cracks was disturbing and makes me fear there is some kind of nest/infestation where the sushi bar is. It is also sad a discount was not offered for a meal being cut short due to roaches. I will no longer be returning to this location.

So I don’t like Sushi…. Ok let’s really break this down, I do not like the nori the sushi is wrapped in. But… here I had options so my husband could enjoy his much loved sushi without me moaning I had nothing to eat. The chicken appetisers are so delicious and the seared salmon is great!! You do not have to love sushi to enjoy a meal here. Be creative and you can join your raw fish loving SO enjoy themselves while still enjoying your meal too!
