We stayed this week end they still have a building left. you need to be able to navigate stairs , but room was great. hope they get built back soon and make it handicap friendly! we ate at mexican Restaurant across from old courthouse and it was wonderful. a great trip on the current River.
Oh dear...we went to pick up our son because he was staying there and the hotel was burned to the ground in the middle of the night, they barely excaped. But the river was beautiful and the hotel was awesome, all the fun things to do, inner tubes, kayaks, and very clear water. I was so surprised! What an awful tragedy for the entire town. The owners are so kind and customer service top notch. Hopefully they rebuild very WORTH the 5 hour drive!!
This was our first time here. We had reservations so we waited in line then was directed to a little gift shop to get what we needed. Staff were very friendly had to ask a lot of questions to make sure what we needed to do. There were lots of people in the water which is normal for a hot Saturday in August a few more then what I would have liked. We did a raft and it was nice we beached it a couple of times so we could get in the water. It was a good experience.
I didn't go to the Blue Heron, if it's asking about, that place itself. The rafting, is rough, fun, but I would advise anybody to have water shoes, a paddle for your raft, if one is available. I went for the rafting today, and you your legs, knees, arms, everything is authentic roughneck rafting. My feet, legs, and knees are really sore. You'll use your arms a lot, and probably enough to make them sore. I'm exhausted. But, it was ROUGH fun. Best scenario, get in your raft, DON'T GET OUT OF IT, unless, you purposely stop to get out for something. Stay centered, and comfortably in your raft, as it will flip over, and through you out, and a weak to strong current is about constant, so it can be difficult to get yourself and your raft stable to get back on it. The water varies from very shallow, to pretty deep. Walking barefoot on the rocks and conditions, I can't recommend, if I ever do it again, I plan to be A LOT more cautious, prepared, and protected! The water is cool cold, because a lot of the water is composed of cold creek water, and natural spring water. Both are rather cool. Right now, it's getting to where it cools down a lot when the sun sets, so it was quite chilly in the later part of the rafting. It's rough, but I've never been before, and it was fun! Painful after, so take whatever precautions, padding, shade, sunscreen, ect. It's not boring, there's a LOT to watch out for, lots of beautiful scenery, but watch out for other people not paying attention, and keep a close watch on who's there with you, for their safety. But, it was interesting and fun!
