La Trattoria - Vias

We first ate here on our second night in Vias and was so pleased that we have eaten here 3 times in the past 10 days. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Our food was lovely not once during the 3 nights did any of our party of 6 have any complaints. We all tried a variety of dishes over the 3 evenings we ate here and each one was excellent. We had some pasta dishes as well as Burger and also Steak, and the sea food started were superb. Thank you to the staff for being such lovely hosts. It does get busy and we were always sat down by 7 pm but by about 8 you are hard pushed to get a seat. Excellent and highly recommend.

Walked up and down the Main Street looking for a higher recommended place. After a while not finding it just settled on this place. People friendly and no complaints about service. Starters fine, everything going well. My eldest ordered the prawn pasta as part of the fixed menu. In his typical fashion he ate pasta first and, as part of his save the best for last philosophy, left the prawns to last. Not a fussy eater, he spit out the first bite. Note that the Veggie complained about the smell when it came but I didn’t register that. I had the mussels and we swapped as I though he just didn’t like them. On trying to pull the head off the first prawn it became apparent that something was wrong. Soft flesh, unable to be removed from the shell without creating a handful of mush. I called the waitress over and explained in poor French bad taste and smell and handed it back. I tried to be polite and explain that I didn’t think it was her fault but there was something wrong with the food. On paying the bill nothing was removed. Poor from a customer service point of view. Even a token gesture would have been appreciated. Poor standards can be found here in my opinion, best to eat elsewhere.
