I come from Myrtle Beach every few weeks. And I stop for breakfast. Great people and good food. ?
When it comes to quality breakfast and lunch, Vidalia is something of a Death Valley. Kountry Kafe as one of the very few exceptions. Clean, well, attended by a talented waitstaff, and featuring a menu that walks a fine tight rope between quantity of offerings and quality presentations, this is a pleasant exception to the short staffed, half cleaned breakfast lunch options in the area. You can't go wrong with the pancakes, waffles, and they make a pretty darn fine omelette. All of the waitstaff is great, but ask for Heather, she is exceptional.
We were visiting Vidalia and were looking forward to having breakfast at this local establishment. There were 6 in our party (including my 93 year old mother). We were told that we would have to wait while our table was prepared and since there was limited room inside, we moved to a couple of outside benches. After 45 minutes I went into the cafe to ensure we had not been forgotten since at least 10 parties of 2 to 3 people had been seated after we had been told to wait. The waitress loudly said, “Baby, does it look like we have a table for a party of 6?”. Needless to say, we left. What happened to the southern hospitality that is usually present in Georgia (I am a Georgian)? In this place it is totally lacking. On a happy note, the other patrons we talked to were extremely pleasant and kind.
Limited menu options. Can get pricey depending on what you order. Could only get one photo to load but grilled ham cheese with fries meal was one price but to get sweet potato tots instead was the full price of $5.50 for the tots so the meal with drink ended up about $20 by time I left a tip. The food tasted okay but didn't justify my price point. Wasn't what I expected. With the name I was expecting down home country so that threw me off once we got inside but there aren't many restaurants downtown so we decided to give it a try. Beautiful woodwork and decor.
