Avaliação da contribuiçãoWalleyes has a very good menu and great service this year. After a few years of challenges it looks like they are making a comeback. We had a group of about 15. Most of us had the steak sandwich for $17. It is a great steak! The service was excellent. Everyone was happy with their order. The whitefish was not our favourite but it was nice to see them using a local product. Years back they offered walleye or pike fish and chips. I would definitely give walleyes a try this year.
We have been to Walleye's several times in the past year. Despite being located in a resort setting and somewhat remote, the prices on their menu are surprisingly reasonable. The food is not as expensive as you might expect, especially compared to restaurants in bigger cities, and they offer a wide variety of options. While the service can be a bit slow at times, the staff is very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant itself is lovely, with large windows that offer views of the forest on one side and the golf course on the other.
We stayed at one of the cottages over Christmas at Elkridge Resort and when I say the highlight of every day was our dinners at the Copper Ridge Dining Room, I'm serious!! I don't know who the chef is but he or she is second to none!!I have allergies as I have discussed in all of my reviews, and this chef took every precaution, and every dinner was spectacular! The steak was amazing, and just pure perfection each day, and seriously we had it 3 nights straight it was so darn good!! Then I had to change so I had the pickerel, oh my goodness, I thought the steak was great, well so was the pickerel, this chef could do no wrong in both mine and my husband's mind. However my only comment that is not a huge rave is the Sunday brunch. We had heard how spectacular it was, and in our opinion, we'll skip it next time. It was just okay in our opinion. Normally at brunches that we have gone to (and we have gone to crazy amounts) you have other meats than just breakfast meats like a roast beef and veggies/salads but there was just breakfast foods. Brunch for us is usually breakfast + lunch = brunch foods. Sorry I have to be honest with the pros and cons, in my opinion. But bar none, the chef is spectacular, and we had fabulous servers every night, and thank you so much for such great service and kindness, we will be back!! I'm desperately trying to replicate how my pickerel was cooked but no luck, and the steak totally impossible because it's the best I've had anywhere we've travelled! AMAZING STEAK!!!
The service was great. Maybe a bit understaffed but they managed. I don't usually order steak in a restaurant because typically they don't cook rare well. I tried the rib eye and it was a bit over done. I don't usually complain because I would rather eat at the same time as everyone else. To my surprise it was the server that noticed my steak was cooked wrong. He brought me a new steak, cooked perfectly and made sure I was eating what I ordered.
We were visiting in the area and rather than spend all day in the kitchen on Christmas Day, we made reservations at the Copper Ridge dining room at Elk Ridge Resort. Our table was waiting for us on arrival so we were seated immediately. We all had the 3-course turkey dinner that was being served that day. The pear and parsnip soup was delicious and rather clever of them to include an ingredient from a traditional Christmas song. The turkey dinner with all the trimmings was divine and we had the perfect wine pairing thanks to the recommendation of one of the helpful and knowledgeable staff. The only thing missing from our delicious Christmas dinner was the leftovers -- but that's only because we "licked our plates" clean! The service was excellent and the meal delicious -- all in a lovely, cozy and beautiful setting. I may never cook at Christmas again! Can't wait to come back and try something else. Perhaps next time we'll stay at the Lodge.
