The Harrow - West Berkshire

This pub is fantastic! The staff were outstanding and the food and service were top-notch. Our big Bernese dog was also made to feel very welcome.

This restaurant is amazing for lunch. The table for twelve people, including Claudia, was very comfortable. We all enjoyed the mushrooms and chicken pie. The service was very friendly and professional.

I recently enjoyed an incredible Christmas lunch at this restaurant. The atmosphere and company were both amazing. Although there were only two of us, we were fortunate to sit near other tables who shared stories about the pub and local history with us. I would definitely make the drive of an hour to go there again. Thanks to the staff for their brilliant service.

We live in North Hampshire and for several years East Ilsley has been a good half way point to meet up with friends who live in the Oxford Cotswolds area; we have always had a very good lunch and been well looked after. On our most recent visit in the summer the hosts told us they were moving to The Harrow in the next village so yesterday was our first visit to their new pub. It was excellent; the same charming welcome, a good choice of beers, the friendliest service (without being intrusive) and a wonderful menu. The Chef deserves enormous praise for his choice of dishes using fresh ingredients which completely complimented the meat or fish chosen. The portion size was perfect I hate being intimidated by an overloaded plate of food which is more than I can eat! Perfectly cooked, creatively presented and delicious! None of us had the Christmas lunch and although the ‘mains’ price is a little closer to a restaurant than a pub it was worth every penny. There are ‘pub favourites’ on the menu too and the selection of starters, desserts and vegetarian options is varied and equally interesting. We are already planning our next visit in early 2024. Newly decorated ‘The Harrow’ is very tastefully styled but still comfortable. Although the pub was busy we could still hold a conversation and were not rushed to vacate our table either. The Christmas decorations are beautiful, very carefully chosen and avoiding any element of ‘trashy and tacky’ which often seems to be a pub theme in December! The village is very enticing and a summer lunch outside overlooking the cricket pitch and the village pond is a treat we look forward to. An early booking is recommended as the only thing The Harrow lacks is a car park but there is plenty of nearby parking so don't let that deter you. This family run pub is highly recommended and I’m sure that in 2024 even more regular and loyal customers will be noting it as one of their favourite destinations. Lovely friendly atmosphere. Made very welcome, lovely clean restaurant. We had chicken steak and arancini... all were beautifully served and delicious. Great Christmas decorations and lights. Meals just right in size and taste!
