El Pollo Ranchero - West Des Moines

Yes.. this is what the Des Moines area has been missing I'd put their chicken up against anyone in the area?

El Pollo Ranchero got added to our rotation of weekly must haves. The chicken is grilled to perfection, the beans and rice are great. We have tried and flan and the tres leches cake as well and both were wonderful.

We stopped in as we were passing through. Very basic restaurant. I would have given 4 stars for the food but no one cleaned a table when when we there and lots of stuff was on the floor.The enchiladas blancas (cheese sauce) was very good. So was the chicken quesadilla.They had a lot of staff standing around so someone could have cleaned the tables and floor.

Food was delicious and staff were pleasant. I will go here Again when in the area.

I was surprised. Based on the prices and the menu selection I wasn’t expecting much but the pollo bowl was really good. The chicken was better than most places, not shredded but chunks of whole chicken breast, and the green sauce was probably my favorite part.
