Pagoda - Wiltshire

This is the worst Chinese food I have ever had. I bought a takeout and had to return the entire order. It did not even taste like authentic Chinese food. I will never purchase food from this restaurant again.

Although lots going on in town, our party of 5 were pleased that we could easily get a table in the evening. It was quiet in the restaurant but apparently the takeaway side of the business is very popular. We had a range of dishes and the overall consensus was that it all was very tasty and as previous reviewer(s) have mentioned, there wasn't the overload of MSG that can overpower some foods, with a negative after effect! The lady serving us was very friendly and helpful and we couldn't have asked for any more.

I should have read the ‘Tripadvisor’ reviews prior to visiting this decrepit place! I am not writing this review in the hope that the owners may read it and thereafter improve their service! I have zero faith in them doing this based on the consistent and long standing negative feedback I have read with the same high lighted again and again. It is the worst experience I have had in my over 30 years of dining. Below are extracts of reviews submitted since 2013 that still ring true today. Crikey, very sad about other people’s bad experiences. Yes the restaurant is quite old but the number of takeaways (clearly repeat customers) going out the door and the fact the tables were full in the restaurant should say something. Attentive, helpful and honest service. Highlights were salt and pepper prawns, steamed dumplings and the chicken in garlic and white wine sauce. We went retro for dessert to include banana fritters and Irish coffee which just sent me back to my younger years! When we are back in the area we will have the confidence to be brave and try the chefs choice!

The worst Chinese meal I have ever had. The duck was dry and had such a bad taste we binned it. The lamb was dry and inedible. The rice was in lumps and the rest of the meal was appalling. Only the seaweed was ok. I wish we had gone to Waitrose and bought a ready meal, it would have been 10x better. Avoid.
