The staff were super friendly and service was quick and efficient. This was our first visit to Winchester and so glad we could enjoy watching English Premier League while we enjoyed a delicious lunch and excellent cider! Huge portions and very good value. We will definitely come back soon!
Took forever for the bartender to notice us and then another 5 minutes to get our drinks. Ordered an appetizer, but saw some people who had been there much longer get theirs and they warned us it had taken forever. There were about 5 or 6 waitresses, plus two bartenders and they claimed they were short-staffed. So we canceled the food, paid for our drinks and rolled out. Now I hear they're closing down. What a surprise.
Only giving 2 stars because of how poor the experience was due to a large volume of customers. They were obviously understaffed.Food was good, servers were great, but they were out of smithwicks and multiple other beers on the menu. I blame management, NOT the server staff. There was an event a block over so whoever manages should have prepared. It took forever to get food as well, because the people working were too few and overwhelmed.
Tried to order a cocktail... they were out. Tried to order an appetizer... they were out. Tried to order an entree... they were out. I can't make this up!Once we FINALLY were able to put an order in, the food was very good. I got the Gaelic tacos, which was literally a Reuben in a taco shell, but it was great. Hubs got the burger with bacon jam and pimento cheese and really enjoyed it.... My Moscow mule was $14, YIKES! Ambiance was very historic pub style. Service was slowwwww but they were understaffed. I will say though, I would give Ellie's another shot bc the food was very good.
