Carbone Coal Fired Pizza - Westwood

The service was excellent but the pizza not so much. You can definitely taste the difference in the crust, being coal fired. However, I like to be able to pick up the piece of pizza and then eat it that way. This crust was too...soft, so I had to use a fork and knife.

We started with an appetizer of Hummus and Bruschetta with Pita Chips. The Bruschetta was good but we found the White Bean Hummus to have not a lot of flavour. For our main we shared a large Peppino pizza. It was very good but it...seemed to be lacking on the toppings of Proscuitto and had instead a lot of Arugula on top to cover the absence. It was a good idea to try it once but I don't think we'll be back, as we think there are better pizza places in the city.

Some of the reviews here are comparing fresh coal fired pizza to Dominos. Not even comparable! The ingredients used on the pizzas here are fresh with a delicious thin crust. The hummus with pita is the perfect starter while the pizzas are being fired. My...children love the pizza here and often watch the process of making their pizzas from start to finish. For kids not used to trying different foods, you may want to get their pizza elsewhere. My kids love the pizza here and out of all the options out there it says a lot that my teen has chosen to have her birthday dinner here twice! I should add the servers are attentive and food comes out quickly. Only downside is it can be pretty noisy if busy because the bar and restaurant are all in one space.

Went for lunch four people. Restaurant was nice, clean, and well laid out. Service was very good thanks Jessica. Pizzas were better than some other places in town, but not up to the standard they claim. They do not have bacon (trying to...stay authentic Italian) and my pizza was cold. They had homemade spicy oil oil, which was cool. If I return it is for the service and location, not really the food.
