Since changing hands this pub has really gone down hill unfortunately. The menu is now very much chain pub grub and the outside area feels very depleted. There was rubbish left on tables, very sad looking plastic garden games and very mediocre food. Cauliflower cheese was served some time after the rest of the roast with 2 portions between three, one of which looked like it had been made hours before and had been reheated many time in kitchen, one that had been knocked up moments before and remained very liquid and undercooked. My son’s chicken goujons were nice enough but all the food on his plate was served ludicrously hot so as you can imagine for a 1 year old he was going berserk! Such a shame as it used to be delightful on a summer evening but now definitely not worth the drive. Nb all menus available online are out of date. Lovely quiet country pub ,we had a wonderful fresh seabass dish and a stunning roast beef dinner, nice to chat with a friendly, funny waiter Richard who I understand is one of the manager's he made us feel very welcome and nothing seemed to much for him and his staff .arrived and was greated by a lovely young lady at the bar. Even though they were very busy on a very hot day they went above and beyond . Will return for sure . Highly recommend. Visited for a Sunday lunch and the food and service were amazing. The portions were very generous and Louise our server was amazing, very friendly and attentive. Would highly recommend and we’ll definitely be back.
