The Fossgate Social - York

This is an excellent place to socialise over a coffee or alcoholic beverage and I've always liked the staff and relaxed atmosphere whenever I've visited. Food wise, the options are quite limited and basic and personally it's not somewhere I would recommend for food, especially when there are so many vegan cafes nearby.

The first few times I went here 2017/2018, I was happy with my avocado on toast brunch, even if it is a bit expensive and a little oily. However the last few times I’ve been they haven’t even had that option. They had ready made sandwiches which the staff would grill at the bar, none of which were vegan. Really nice atmosphere, good coffee and alcoholic drinks, but I wouldn’t go for food.

I went here hoping to get a yummy brunch. Not having looked at the menu at all because I was in a new town but seeing as they has vegan options on the description I thought give it a go. They had one vegan brunch option avo on toast which is my life but that was it. You can get sides with it like mushrooms if you want. Just overall a little disappointed really.

We also checked opening times etc. on trip advisor but when we got there they said food didn't start untill 10.00am. They only had one salad and one pancake to choose from. Maybe better for a coffee/drink?

I absolutely adore this place. The ambiance is so calming and they offer coffee and beer all day long. They have a great selection of drinks, including their own York beer and the delicious Ice Cream Factory. The espresso martini is to die for - a true indulgence!
