Avaliação da contribuiçãoWhenever I come to Sumo Roll, I can expect to feel really satisfied after. Generally, when it comes to sushi, I get a bit apprehensive about getting a special roll because it never feels like a roll is enough food to fill me up, especially with the prices. That's not the case with Sumo Roll! I love their Lion King roll, and it's always so massive that I leave feeling super full. The ratio of rice to filling is also great; it's stuffed to the point that I have a hard time getting a slice into my mouth!Service is always great too. The server is really sweet and friendly, as is the chef. I actually came today after a really rough couple of days, and seeing how warm the service was made me feel better about my day afterwards. You can tell how grateful they are.Sumo Roll also is pretty quiet in terms of volume too. You typically won't hear loudly banging pots and pans in the kitchen, and the music they play is really peaceful. Sumo Roll stays as my favorite place to get sushi in the East Bay!
The service was impeccable. Very very nice people who anticipated every need with care and consideration. The food was mediocre at best. I ordered the unagi special combo which came with miso soup. The soup was barely warm and didn't taste better than instant. The shrimp tempura that accompanied the combo was decent. It was a large portion of rice under the unagi. The unagi was baked but the texture seemed a little off to me. I only ate half. It also wasn't very hot either. The hottest thing I had was tea. It took 15 minutes for it to become drinkable lol. It was a good portion for $3. It tasted a bit overbrewed though. In general, the service is worth it. Everything else was okay.
AMAZING MEAL, AMAZING SERVICE! Thanks for a fantastic lunch! An old friend and I went out to a long overdue lunch. We found this place through a quick, yelp search and by proximity to where we were and ended up walking on over for lunch. We were greeted by a few smiling faces telling us to sit anywhere. The menu had some good looking specialty rolls and some of your classics. In addition to fun appetizers, we split one specialty roll and two classic rolls which are a little bit smaller and it was perfect for the two of us. The service was great and everyone was so friendly. The sushi was amazing, the fish was incredibly fresh, and the rice was a perfect consistency. This is easily five stars, and we will be back!
I've been coming here for years, and I don't plan to stop!Prices are imo pretty fair, and I've ways been happy with my orders. They can get busy here and there, but I've never had a long wait time at Sumo Roll. The Gyoza and Croquettes are probably my favorite starters here. The Yoshihama sushi burrito is hands down my favorite thing on the menu, followed by Gyudon, and Kazan sushi burrito. The flavors for everything I've tried on the menu have always been consistent and great. If you order takeout it travels pretty well, nothing gets overly soggy during a 30min car ride.Dining in is a comfortable atmosphere, reliably quick in person service, good plating.
A decent Japanese place in downtown Berkeley. The owner was really friendly and accommodating. You get 5% off if you pay with cash and they also have the Yelp 10% if you check in. I ordered croquettes, two rolls, and a sushi burrito. I thought the croquettes were pretty decent. The inside was really soft and it was nicely fried. The sauce that they drizzled on top was the sauce for the takoyaki (not sure what sauce it was but it's a common sauce in Japanese food). The rolls were pretty good. Nothing mind blowing. The sushi burrito had too much of the imitation crab meat in it and I didn't really enjoy that. I'm not sure which sushi burrito it was because they didn't give the one I wanted but I didn't have the heart to tell them. The lady was being really nice and I didn't want to waste food so I chose to just keep it. I would come back if I was craving sushi rolls. I do want to try their noodles and rice bowls.
