Avaliação da contribuiçãoFantastic food, lovely people. We had the prawn starter which was sooo tasty. Unfortunately we weren’t very hungry so will definitely be going back again for more.
We turned up unannounced they were very accommodating the food was amazing, service was great and the coffee was fantastic. Will definitely go back
I decided to try it out when it was quiet. I had a late lunch, around 2:30pm, and I was the only diner. The tables were well prepared and staff were observing social distancing and Covid safe working practices. I started with the usual olives, bread, butter and fish paste, then Canja (chicken soup) as a starter and followed by Bacalhao a Braga, a dish of cod in a light batter covered in onions and red peppers with thinly sliced potato rounds roasted in the oven. The dish was delicious, cod cooked just right and the fish was so big it would have easily satisfied two people therefore I didn't finish it! I had a small Mousse de Maracuja (passion fruit mousse) to finish. They do wine by the jug here as well as by the bottle and the house white is pretty OK and it works out less expensive than buying wine by the glass. I can't say much about the service they were very pleasant and attentive, but I as I was the only diner present at the time, I wasn't able to see how they cope when they're full. Pricewise, OK; I've noticed since reopening after Covid lockdown, most of London's Portuguese restaurants have pushed their prices up, mainly on drinks but also on food. This one's no exception. The food, wine plus a bottle of mineral water, a small coffee and a Bagaso and an extra glass of wine came to almost £50. Pre Covid, this would have been more like £45. Still, it won't break the bank. I'd suggest that diners order one main between two; at least that way you'll have a chance of finishing it! The menu is slightly more varied than some Portuguese restaurants and someday soon, I'll go back for diner and try other tasty dishes, next with with a very empty stomach! Can't fault their generosity. Benefit of the doubt 4/5.
I went to this restaurant with my husband on a warm evening and we sat at a table outside. While we were enjoying our wine and waiting for our food, two other customers (I assume regular), came and stood by our table and smoked cigarettes, They were part of a large and noisy group of Portuguese people inside the restaurant. I politely asked them to step back a little as they were standing next to our table and the smoke was blowing in our faces. Not realising that I understood Portuguese, rather than stepping back they began to loudly complain, in Portuguese, about the 'English **** who thinks she can tell us what to do ' and telling other customers and passers-by to come and smoke in my face. I was shocked. I was even more shocked when they surrounded our table and threatened to slap me among other things. One of the group ripped the glass of wine I was drinking out of my hand and poured it on the pavement. He then did the same with the rest of bottle of wine. I was scared but I was with my husband and he can handle himself. What did the owner do? Did he step in? Did he help his customers? Nope. I 'm assuming they were regulars because he simply started yelling at us too. We were absolutely shocked. My husband paid the bill (I am still angry that he paid), quietly pointed out that we had been badly treated and we left. Dreadful place, dreadful people, dreadful customers. Don 't come here.
We popped in here before watching a show at The Playhouse. Friendly attentive service. We ordered baked cod with garlic and onions and the baked cod with prawns. Plus a bottle of wine. Delicious. Fish was cooked to perfection.
