Avaliação da contribuiçãoPitxó restaurant was an amazing surprise. The rural route to get there, the area full of vineyards, the beautiful ranch house, the fantastic service and especially the delicious food made this Sunday something memorable of our trip to Valencia. Watching complete families from baby to grandparents in large tables of 12-15, enjoying a beautiful day on Sunday was inspiring. Set menu with pumpkin soup, fresh salad, choice of rice cooked over fire or gazpacho Manchego and dessert. Wine selection from Celler del Roure. Maduresa made of Monastrell grapes was wonderful. In May 2019 they were only open on Saturday and Sunday 1:30 to 5 pm. Call to make reservations. Google maps was very helpful. One of the pleasure of traveling in different counties is enjoying and tasting different foods. We were surprised rice is very popular in this area of Spain, mostly cooked over fire. Along the coast is served with lobster, in the countryside is served with game meat, snails and rabbit. Another surprised was gazpacho manchego. (de la Mancha) Meat stew cooked with pieces of special bread. Completely different from the usually known cold tomato gazpacho from Andalusia. In the morning we toured close by Celler del Roure, in Moixent, a fascinating Valencia Vineyard that ferments and ages wine underground in old buried Clay Amphoras like they did in ancient times. Tour was fun and exciting. Emai to make reservation info@cellerdelroure dot es. After lunch we drove to Alcoi, then highway CV70 driving a winding mountain road with many curves, some of them hairpins to Guadalest. Only 1:30 hrs. away. The two lane road was in very good condition passing picturesque villages. Driving our rented Fiat 500 was perfect for this road. We stayed in Cases Noves, boutique mountain hotel with spectacular views and amazing hosts, within walking distance to Guadalest Castle. This Sunday in Spain was perfect.
