Pizzeria Italia Antica - Penzberg

We made the short trip to this restaurant mid week and so decided not to call and a reservation. it seemed closed for some time, with external signs decayed.

This place is excellent they have their own brick oven inside so the pizzas have that perfect crust that you can only get from this oven! In the summer is hot so they have a nice beer garden protected from the sun by an impressive...tree is just a great place to chill out and have good food. We sat outside, drank Hugo's and ordered pizza! Perfect place for celebrations. I had been there before with some customers from out of country. Everyone loved the food and the atmosphere! Please make a reservation. It can get crowded on the weekends. The staff is accommodating and try to serve everyone but sometimes if you don't make reservations you have to wait. (Still worthy though) This place also have pick up service so is perfect for when you want to have a quiet night eating pizza in front of the TV. Did I mentioned desserts?? Try their tiramisu is my favorite!

This restaurant was recommended to us by different locals. Very glad we tried it. Authentic Italian cuisine. Wood oven pizza is outstanding. Teen tested and approved!! Marsala and Pasta dishes were excellent, as well as salads. Very good selection of beer, wine and cocktails....Large shaded outdoor garden dining was perfect during the July heat since indoor spots can become quite stuffy. Located on the outside edge of Penzberg just off the river in district Untermaxkron. Go early as parking lot fills up fast and overflows to adjacent streets. Always busy, but worth the wait for a table!

The place is kind of odd, in the outskirts of a small town in Upper Bavaria, ca min drive from Munich, yet, they really produce great food and the Pizza is absolutely gorgeous. We always felt welcome in this family style atmosphere and on...warm days you can sit outside with some mountain view or -if open- in the beer garden beside the main building. In summary great and genuine Italian food best for families and reservations highly reccommended as the place fills up quickly especially on weekends.
