The dining room is small quaint and historic but the little room was the best thing about our dining experience. The meal was just ok and not cheap for just ok. We did not return for a second dinner meal but went to the Twine Loft and had an excellent dinner. Wish I had gone there first!

The fish was extremely fresh and when we requested that it not be deep fried, our server arranged for an authentic Newfoundland pan-fried recipe, including the distinctive scrunchions. The portions were generous, the service friendly and prompt, allowing us plenty of time to attend the Rising Tide Theatre performance. The dining room is well appointed and also serves as the breakfast room for the BnB. Prices reasonable, too.

I'm a pretty straightforward and simple prairie girl from rural Saskatchewan, but if this is fine dining, then I'm the pope. Very disappointing meal overall. When we were seated, our tablecloth was dirty, with liquid spilled on it, even though the place settings has been set up for us. I requested a clean tablecloth, which the server provided quickly and with apology. Unfortunately, our table legs were uneven, and the table was continually tilting. We also had paper serviettes, plain and small. Service was very slow, (they wbere quite busy) but after 20 minutes, we ordered the turkey dinner. A very nice bread was served. The dinner was just edible, because we were hungry after a long day of driving and no lunch. Stuffing was a few dry crumbs, gravy had lumps, no butter with the baked potato (there was sour cream), cranberry sauce was runny and processed and just served in individual packets. But the worst was the baked potato. Not only was it really dry, but mine actually was moldy on one corner, and I had to spit a mouthful out. We also had water with our meal. One glass each was brought, and nobody around to fill it up. When I finally asked for more water, the server said she would bring it, but by the time it actually arrived, I was finished my meal. Needless to say, we ordered no dessert or coffee. We paid the bill of close to fifty dollars and left. We will not be going back for dinner to Sophia's again. As my partner observed, they were pretending to be something they weren't.

As we were staying at the Eriksen, we dined here on the first night. A reasonable selection of food and I had Salmon with noodles and my husband had Fish

Utterly disappointing . Although we had a reservation we felt that they were surprised to see us and we did not feel terribly welcome. Food was over cooked (sadly including the lobster and crab) and pedestrian. Ordered a turkey dinner and the stuffing was basically seasoned breadcrumbs and cranberry sauce was packaged like jam. Server had clearly not been appropriately trained for an establishment that is supposed to be fine dining. Wine arrived at the table already opened, was not poured for tasting but left at the table with all the glasses bunched together. She also did not properly serve us individually but seemed to expect us to pass the food around ourselves. Only meal on our 10 day trip that we were unhappy with - although all the rest of our dining experiences in Newfoundland have been superb. Not recommended. Make a reservation at Twine Loft for a great meal instead.
