We sat outside and it was nice. Service was great. The Ceviche appetizer was fabulous as the rocks with cauliflower and Sunchoke purée. Daniel didn't rush us and was very helpful. The night was finished with a strawberry mousse dessert, and the cook wrote “Happy Anniversary” with dark chocolate on the top of the plate. It was a perfect night. We're coming back!
Rate this as the best culinary experience in my 15 years in KC area. The staff was great and always attentive, that can be hard to find. Eating was amazing, we rarely made up of 'uptown', but we loved all plates starters (ceviche, tagliatelle , entrees (pork cheeks, halibut , and dessert (donuts, sorbet . Wine is on site and sommelier was helpful. Wine according to glass selection also best in KC. (Maybe, Lidia beats from my memories.
Decided to participate in Restaurant Week (first time ever) to help us mothers 70. celebrate birthday. We started the Rave reviews of Story when we were desperate in ideas (we live about an hour west of KC and were never in Prairie Village) and decided that we should be adventurous, though it was 6pm. Our first call was to Story and without a problem, secured the first available reservation at 730 hrs. how happy is that? Our ideal table was waiting for us and the place was full! Very sophisticated young hip crowds with a mixture of groups; Shop (backet and tie), couples date night and the table next to us was a girl night out. Fast, professional and recommended service (we needed help with champagne choices). We leave from the chef in his restaurant week festive dinner menu: Caesar salad or minenstrone soup starter and a selection of short ribs or swordfish entree. Special birthday news in chocolate was added to Mom's bread pudding dessert (which was included in the restaurant weekly menu). btw them HEAT the coffee cups so your coffee pipping hot when it comes to your table to not mention the accompanying house made sugar cubes! If you are looking for a culinary experience to impress the most valuable parents on their special day, this is a must! Only the right portion sizes, eloquently paired with sides and every bite combines the best of flavors... she has already asked if we could make a return visit to Valentine's Day. Bon appetite for all these foods this is a must try!
First-time customers. Story lives up to its hype from the pear and goat's cheese appetizer to the calfsuckle with cauliflower, Chanterelle mushrooms and onion rings. Even the bread, especially the Parmesan Focaccia bread, had perfect crust, crumbs and chewing. One of the best restaurants in Kansas
My girlfriend and I had a great experience dining here this past week. The fried chicken (which, according to our waiter, is only available on Wednesdays) was absolutely delicious but still light. We also enjoyed the pork ravioli, lobster tagliatelle, and duck empanadas. The wait staff was very accommodating and the ambience was lovely. One of my favorite restaurants in Kansas City!
