Avaliação da contribuiçãoPonchatoulas is a rather odd mix between a dive bar, a Cajun joint, and a family dining restaurant. But it works! The specialty is seafood, as expected. Shrimp, crawfish and catfish are all staples of the menu, but it also includes wings, burgers, salads, and the rest of the general pub fare. I sat at the bar and ordered a combo platter with filé gumbo, crawfish tails, and a salad, downing it with a mug of a local IPA. Servers were awesome; friendly, polite and attentive. Definitely worth stopping by for food, or even for the ambience!
I got the sampler at both visits here (it was so good that I had to go twice). The first time I got crabcakes and crust fish estoufee, and the second time I got cancers and red beans and rice. The service was pretty good, a little chaotic and slow, but I think we are at the same time there as a softball team, things happen. Overall delicious local Cajun cuisine. Definitely worth the stop, 10 out of 10, I'll eat here again.
I had the lunch Fish Plate (mixed vegetables with one side of shrimp. The food was nicely seasoned and the service was good. I can see myself driving to Ruston every day for 45 minutes. If you just pass thru and want seafood fall by:
Very delicious food good service clean restaurant not much else to say. My family comes from New Orleans Louisiana but I live in Michigan and this place has the food I was looking for. Being that it's in the northern west part of the state I was worried I wouldn't be able to find any good Cajun food. I was surprised, their food was right on the money exactly what I had to taste for and fair prices. I just wish I had ordered a hurricane so I could give a review on that.
The food was good, but the drinks needed a little doctoring. And the service could have been a little faster and prompt. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $50–100 Food: 5 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 3
