My husband and I came for dinner on the spur of the moment, no reservation on Friday night. At 5:30, we were the only ones there and got our favourite table by the screened window again. The wine selection is not huge but very reasonably priced. We had a bottle of the Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon for only $32. Full-bodied and peppery. We decided to have 3 dishes to share between us and selected the Lamb Lollipops, Roasted Red Pepper Hummus and the Galvanized Prawns. Unfortunately, the lamb is no longer available so we were offered an option of specials not on the menu. We selected the Dry Ribs. The Galvanized Prawns popped with flavour! A must try! The Dry Ribs were flavourful and juicy and, though they were not saucy, they were not dry at all! The Roasted Red Pepper Hummus was served with wedges of pita bread and very tasty. We got a bit more pita bread as we ran out before completing the substantially sized portion of dip. A great value and all dishes were delicious!Tyler was keen to provide us with a sample of the signature Canada Day special dish of seared pork belly, served with a mustard aioli dip. Who are we to deny him? Wow! That's all I can say. I enjoy bacon but am not a fan of pork chops. This pork belly was melt in my mouth and he wouldn't even charge us for it! He stated it would be served in a 1 lb portion and called Bacon Steak. That is the perfect name. Definitely order this dish!As previously, we felt totally catered to and would love to return every night. Once word gets out, however, I'm afraid it will be packed and we won't even get a table. When a great restaurant like this opens up, I want it to do just well enough to stay open, but not so well that others are hampering my experience. Looking forward to dinner again soon.
This restaurant is new to the Corydon strip, having been there in this reincarnation for only six months. The décor and seating in this restaurant are on trend and there is a variety of seating to suit most any diner. The owner greeted us warmly upon our arrival and was very attentive. He described the dishes as scratch made. While it was a Tuesday at noon, it seemed odd to be the only patrons inside. Perhaps everyone was looking for a patio on this day??Food was beautifully prepared and served, no hesitation to return.
We went for dinner at this lovely cozy little restaurant with another couple and were seated at the front window table. The restaurant has a garage-front door, which opens up to a giant screened area onto Corydon - it gives you all the atmosphere of being outside but without having to worry about the elements (or future mosquitoes.) The service was wonderful and very attentive, the plates were all a good size and the prices were reasonable. They have main courses, but you can also order in tapas style, which is what we decided to do. We especially loved the prawn dish and the bacon wrapped jalapeños, and the kale salad was made with Tuscan kale which is a tastier, gentler kind of kale. We also ordered their grilled cheese specialty and split it 4 ways. It was delicious and their fries were really good. They have live music on Thursday nights with a talented and very enjoyable musician (Joel Waldie), who took our requests and kept us entertained during the evening. They were setting up a small patio area as we were finishing off our dinner with shared desserts - a triple chocolate cake (to die for if you are a chocolate lover) and a cheesecake with raspberry coulis that was also very, very tasty. They have a small, but well chosen wine list that enhances the food they serve. This place is on "the other" side of Corydon, but is well worth crossing the street for. We had a fabulous evening and I would gladly return.
Four of us had dinner last night at Elevate and sat in the window that is an open garage door with a screen. It was a perfect summer night and we felt we were on a great patio, only inside. Add to that great food, fantastic service and even a wonderful guitar player and made for an amazing night. I would highly recommend Elevate. It is even has the advantage of being on the other side of Corydon so it isn't as busy on the street. As we finished dinner they were just installing a small three table outdoor patio, so more reasons to go back.
